Instructions for Completing Online Loan Exit Counseling
The Office of Student Financial Aid requires that all Stafford loan borrowers at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport complete a student loan exit counseling session prior to graduation, transfer, or withdrawal. The exit session provides information on the rights and responsibilities of student loan borrowers. Once you have reviewed information related to student loan repayment, you will answer a few simple questions and the Student Financial Aid Office will receive confirmation that the exit is complete by means of electronic notification.
Prior to completing the exit session you may wish to view a record of your total federal student loan debt. You may access your records by navigating to the National Student Loan Clearinghouse at www.nslds.ed.gov and enter the pin number you were assigned by the Department of Education for filing your FAFSA. If you do not have a pin number, you may obtain one by going to www.pin.ed.gov and complete the required information. Please note that only your federal loans will be listed with the clearinghouse; if you have private or credit based loans such as residency and relocation loans you must visit your lender’s website for current debt totals.
